The Can Do Book was developed by Founder and President Lori Whiting, for her ninth child, Joshua, then eighteen months old. She wanted to create something that Joshua would love. She thought of all the things that were exciting to her little boy. Things like going bye-bye, playing peek-a-boo, making animal sounds, clowns with balloons, telephone calls, getting dressed, eating, and playing with toys. She also wanted the book to be something that would be a teaching tool as Joshua grew. Those more advanced concepts that were incorporated are: shape recognition and matching, primary and secondary colors, putting things away, what to wear for weather conditions, numbers and number recognition, foods that are good for you, car safety, and a simple puzzle. Illustrator, Loretta Clayson did a beautiful job putting all of the concepts into bright and colorful art work.
